Plateau State Govt seeks partnership in youth development.


THE Plateau State Government has promised to support any organization that is willing to engage the youths in order to discover their talents in the state.
Governor Simon Lalong stated this yesterday when the Flawless Vision, organizers of the Jos International Marathan race, paid him a courtesy call at Government, House, Rayfield, Jos.
Represented by his Deputy, Professor Sonni Tyoden, Governor Lalong said that the objectives of the organization were in tune with his administration’s dream of identifying talents among the youth so as to develop their capacity for the benefit of the state.

While advising the organizers to make it an annual event, the governor assured them of governments support, adding that this would go a long way in drawing other national sporting events to the state.
Earlier while speaking on behalf of the organization, the publicity secretary of the flawless vision, Mr. Gerald Longlat intimated the governor that the organization was planning to organize the international Marathon race covering 42 kilometer aimed at testing the resilience of athletes in the state.
Longlat disclosed that the event war structured to achieve three major aims to include engaging the youths positively, show casing Plateau State as being safe and peaceful as well as making the state to the sporting and tourist destination of choice.
He said over 40,000 athletes were expected to participate in the event, adding that the concept to organize the Marathon was developed in 2009 and could not hold due lack of political will to key into it by the past administration.

He commended governor Lalong for the approval to host the event and highlighted some challenges facing them to include lack of funds to enable them put the necessary thing in place.
He called on public spirited individual to support the event as was done in Edo and Lagos States and called on the state government to lead to the sponsorship of the event.
