SEVEN local government council areas in Adamawa State are to benefit from Governor Muhammadu Bindow’s rescue mission.
This mission according to our correspondent, are the constructions and
renovation of nine blocks of three classrooms, eight toilets and four
boreholes.
It was gathered that the decision was an affirmation of
receipt and subsequent payments of the millenium development goals which
has been received by the state.
The project which is to cost
N1.1billion is expected to improve on structures in these council areas
and to give succor to hitherto over crowded public schools in the state.
Governor Bindow who was taken round some of the schools at both
Yola-North and Yola-South said education and road constructions were
part of the cardinal points of his administration.
Bindow urged the
contractors handling the projects to ensure that the job was of high
quality and which should be done within the stipulated time.
At the
Technical College Demonstration School in Yola-South, the Governor
frowned at the inability of past administrations to complete a project
seven years when it was started.
The Governor visited the Majalisa
Primary School close to the Jimeta Police Station in Jimeta Yola-North
which was affected by a bomb blast telling the schools board to furnish
him with details and estimates for work to commence.
In her
comments, State Commissioner for Education Professor Kaletapwa Farauta
lamented the encroachment by outsiders on lands belonging to schools,
and appealed to the people to plant at least a tree round the school
which can provide parameter fence pending when government can provide
fences.
Also in his remarks, Coordinator of the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs), Alhaji Usman Bukar disclosed that the
projects were meant for the year 2014 but due to inability of government
to pay in its counterpart fund there was delay in the commencement.
The benefitting Local Government Areas are Guyuk, Demsa, Toungo, Ganye,
Yola-South and Yola-North with Toungo benefiting from a Five Hundred
naira community empowerment project that would soon be implemented.DON'T FORGET TO ALWAYS DROP YOUR COMMENT(S) AND SUGGESTION(S) IN THE COMMENT BOX BELOW. THANKS FOR VISITING.
