Plateau State Govt To Construct International Trade Fair Complex



THE Plateau State Government has said that, it was in the process of acquiring land for the construction of an International Trade Fair complex including a one stop shop (OSS) to ease doing business in the state in which a complex has since been acquired.
Governor Simon Bako Lalong made the revelation last Thursday when he attended the Plateau Special Day at the on-going 2016 Jos Trade Fair held at Polo Field, Jos.
The governor further said, government has already put in an elaborate incentive for all investors who are ready to do business in the state, stressing that, the incentive can be found with the state Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
“Over the last one year and the half years since our assumption of office, we have endeavoured to open up our environment for investment to the world. Narrowing our focus to the three (3) key areas of our comparative advantage in the state, that is Agriculture, Mineral Resources exploration and Tourism”, he said.
Governor Lalong also said, his administration has already put in place machinery to revive and re-develop the burnt Jos Main Market under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) to bring back the lost glory of the market, saying advisory services have already been engaged and prospects in visitors have been shortlisted, he added.
While thanking PLACCIMA and ANISTA Marketing and events limited for staging the trade fair, the governor promised to continue with the trade fair in the coming years.
Earlier, the President of PLACCIMA Bulus Dareng and Commissioner for Commerce and Industries of the State, Ezekiel Daju while thanking the Governor for the enabling environment to stage the trade fair, commended him for making sure that the trade fair became a reality in the present economic recession the country was experiencing.
They thanked the governor for his listening ear by promising to provide permanent site for the trade fair, adding that, in the next two years, the state would host its fair in the permanent site with the governor making sure that the state participated in the Kaduna and Abuja trade fairs.
On his part, the ALGON chairman of the state Stephen Jings represented by his Deputy, Chief Dan Dul while thanking the governor for allowing the trade to hold, promised fair ALGON, support to the governors effort in making sure that state was conducive for investors to invest in the state
