El-Rufai Sacks 4,000 Local Government Workers

The Kaduna state government has terminated the employment of more than 4,000 local government workers, in its effort to trim its local government work force.
The El-Rufai led government said the system is over bloated, with staff earning salaries they do nothing for.

APC Yet To Receive Atiku’s Resignation Letter

The All Progressives Congress has said that it is yet to receive a letter of resignation from the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known on Friday in Abuja. Atiku had in a statement on Friday announced his resignation from the APC, citing lack of good relationship with the party leadership, among other issues.
He explained that he joined the APC in 2014 after some of its leaders appealed to him, following the crisis in his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party which resulted in two different factions.

Court sends ‘killer wife’ to prison

A federal capital territory ( FCT ) high court has ordered that Maryam Sanda be remanded in Suleja prison for allegedly murdering Bilyamin Bello, her husband.
The FCT police command arraigned her before Yusuf Halilu, a judge, on Friday.
Maryam, who wept profusely in the court, covered her face with a veil to prevent journalists from taking pictures.

Willie Obiano, Anambra state governor, says he has no plan to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Obiano was re-elected in the poll after securing victory in all the 21 local government areas of the state.
Addressing state house correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, the governor said APGA is “very strong” in the south-east.
Asked if he was considering joining the APC, he said: “Never!”

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he was diagnosed with diabetes over 30 years ago yet he is stronger than many young people.
Obasanjo said this on Friday after leading hundreds of people on a road walk for diabetes awareness in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
He said if well managed, diabetes cannot kill people.
Obasanjo recalled that his primary school headmaster was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 50 but lived up to 85 years as a result of proper management of the ailment.
“Diabetes is not a disease that should kill, I was diagnosed to be diabetic more than 30 years ago but rather, I am growing strong,” he said.

A 33-year-old man, Chima Njoku, who allegedly used his roommate’s phone to transfer N100,000 from the latter’s bank account into his own, on Thursday appeared in court.

Njoku, who resides in Gbagada area of Lagos, is facing two counts of breach of peace and stealing before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
