What Happened to Truth...?

By Udenenwu John Chike
Today in our mournful cry we ask, whatever happened to the truth in this country? We inquire whatever happened to the purveyor of this truth? Where are the many men and women of goodwill? Do we still sit still and watch as men of ill-will lay evil precedence? Maybe we've been
carried away by some sense of urgency to overlook this truth in a bid to promoting peace & unity even in the face of tyranny and recklessness in handling political unrest.
Whatever happened to the rule of law? Whatever happened to dialogue as a means of conflict resolution? Whatever happened to the people's fundamental human right? Isn't it because of the current approach to issues by the government of Buhari that this country is being torn apart all the more along ethnic lines?... Isn't it sheer callousness to hit a child and still force him not to cry? The agitation and call for secession we hear today wouldn't have been if there is equity of the goose and gander that make up this entity called Nigeria. Before anyone starts crusading for peace and unity of Nigeria, a thought must be spared to reflect on the essential components which are cardinal in fostering peace and unity. Heaven knows there is a huge shortage of these essential components so much that it is almost becoming elusive.... This simply means that we cannot
pursue peace until equity, fairness and justice is meted on all stakeholders of the Nigerian State, this include even equity for the northern minorities, whose identity have been completely crushed by the ruling fulani feudal oligarchy.... Yet, we cannot speak, even when we do speak, it is tagged 'hate speech'. We cannot agitate, even when we do, it is termed 'a terrorist act'.... What
stake do we have? What more can we say.... Oh,
whatever happened to truth?
