Plateau govt re-iterates on sustaining peace, security

PLATEAU State Governor Simon Lalong said his administration was determined to ensure sustenance of peace, security and protection of lives and properties to its citizens despite the security challenges confronting the state.
Governor Lalong stated this at the flag off of the distribution of relief materials worth over 20 million naira to victims of the violence attack in Miango Bassa, Local Government Area of the state.
The items distributed included thirty (30) difference food and non food items which consist building materials food staff and clothing among others.
Governor Lalong who was represented by the Director General Plateau, Peace Building Agency, Joseph Longman described the recent violence attack on innocent citizens in some parts of the state as major setback to the existing peace already achieved and a trying moment for the citizens of the state.
He condemned in strong term, the dastardly act perpetrated against the people in different communities in Bassa Local Government Area while soliciting the support and cooperation of citizen in the state to ensure enduring peace.


Earlier the Executive Secretary of the state Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Alhassan Barde said the prearrangement of the assorted relief materials and subsequent distributions of same to the affected persons was a clear demonstration o f this high level of commitment and concern of the change government.
He called on all organizations public spirited individuals the organized private sector and the business community to compliment the efforts of government in assisting the affected victims of the unfortunate attack.
Bra Ngwe Irigwe RT Rev. Ronku Aka explained that one of the suspected attackers arrested by youths in the area confessed that 20 of them perpetrated the dastardly act in the area and he is now in police custody undergoing interrogation.
