Man arrested with dead baby in polythene bag

The Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed this on Monday said the suspect wrapped the dead body in a polythene bag.
He added that the 42-year-old boarded a vehicle at Sapade garage in Remo axis of the state, on December 22, with the polythene bag he was carrying.

UN votes: Nigeria joins 127 countries to reject Trump’s decision on Jerusalem
Nigeria was among the 128 countries which voted against the
decision of President Donald Trump to recognise Jerusalem as the capital
of Israel.
The countries on the opposing side stood their ground at the UN general assembly despite Trump’s threat to cut off funding to them.
Thirty-five countries, among them Rwanda abstained while nine tiny countries, including Togo, voted along with US.

‘NYSC’ll ensure prosecution of Ogun corps member’s killer’
The National Youth Service Corps says it
is working to ensure that the suspected rapist and killer of its member
in Ogun State, Tawose Modupe, is brought to book.
The NYSC Ogun State Coordinator, Mr.
John Okpo, spoke during a visit to the family of the deceased on
Wednesday, noting that the corps would strive to protect and defend the
rights of members.
PUNCH Metro had reported on
Friday that a driving instructor, Festus Udoh, allegedly lured the
23-year-old corps member into a bush at Mawuko, in the Odeda Local
Government Area of Ogun State where he raped and strangled her.
Modupe was reported to have registered in a driving school, Lizzy Driving School, where the suspect worked.
Udoh was said to have committed the
crime when he lured the corps member into the bush on the pretext of
giving her a learner’s permit.

Johnson Agbonayinma, has dumped the opposition People’s Democratic
Party, PDP, for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a letter read by Speaker Yakubu Dogara at plenary on Thursday, Mr. Agbonayinma who was loyal to the ousted chairman of the PDP, Ali Modu-Sheriff, alleged that he had been sidelined in the party.
He said after Mr. Sheriff lost at the Supreme Court, his colleagues in the house and his former party “shut the door against him”.

Innoson’s CEO ‘rejects bail’, demands explanation on arrest
Innocent Chukwuma, chief executive officer (CEO) of Innoson
Group, has reportedly rejected his release from the custody of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Nigerian Leaders Should Undergo Drug Test, Says Sanusi
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has called for a law to compel
Nigerian political and religious leaders, including lawmakers, governors
and traditional rulers, to undertake drug test.
The emir made the call as he accused the leaders of condoning the use of illegal substances by their body guards and thugs.
“Anybody who elements of drugs abuse is found in him should quickly resign his position because he is not fit to hold (public) position,” Mr. Sanusi said on Monday in Kano.
He was speaking at the Senate Roundtable on Drugs Abuse Epidemic in Nigeria, organised by the Nigerian Senate.
He said it was hypocritical and amounts to mere talk for “a governor or senator or any big political office holder” to speak against drug abuse in society while having “highly drugged thugs as his body

Robbers storm NLC chairman’s house, abduct wife
Armed persons on Sunday attacked the residence of the chairman of the
Nigeria Labour Congress, Ebonyi State chapter, Leonard Nkah.
The house is at Mile 50 area of Abakaliki, the state capital.
The armed persons, said to be five, stormed the house on Sunday evening, ransacked the building and took away some valuables including undisclosed amount of cash.
“I was called by my wife around 9 p.m. that robbers came to our house and demanded for my whereabouts. They said they got information that there was money that was brought in and that they need the money. They forced her to lie down despite the fact that she was pregnant.
